Packers Hope History Repeats Itself
And We Go From Bad Brett and Bret, To Better
Forget Favre vs. the Packers. Brett returning to Green Bay. And the bitter rivalry against the Vikes.
At least for this moment, it's the crossroads game of the season for the Pack. Just like last year. Last year, after a terrible loss in Tampa, the Packers were at .500. 4-4. And then, a pivotal game against a possible Super Bowl contender, coming home to beat Tony Romo and the Cowboys, for a statement victory...going 7-1 down the stretch.
One year later, the Packers now sink to 3-3. And guess what? A potential Super Bowl contender comes to Lambeau in the form of the Vikings. If the Packers are made of anything, they'll win this game and make a statement. Otherwise, going to New York to face the Jets, to return home to face the Cowboys? That could get really ugly.
Now last week at this time, it was bad to be Brett...or Bret. Brett Favre, dealing with tendinitis, a bad loss to the Jets, and the sexting allegations. And Bret Bielema was dealing with allegations of running up the score on Minnesota by going for 2, and thoughts that he couldn't win big games against ranked opponents in the Big Ten.
Well, it's better days for Brett and Bret. The Vikings are playing better, Favre has his prized receiver in Randy Moss...and even though he has to explain himself to the NFL on Tuesday in dealing with the sexting allegations, I'm hearing the NFL has no proof that he sent any of the messages or photos.
Bret Bielema? Well, he beat Ohio State, and his arch nemesis, Tim Brewster got fired by the Gophers.
Better days indeed, that would go right back down hill if Brett loses at his old stomping grounds in Green Bay, and Bret falls at his old haunts in Iowa.
