Lance Allan: Sports Glance with Lance

Pack Preps For Bears

Notes After the Blowing Out The Bills

  • Print

I think it's time to call Clay Matthews the "Quarterback Killer."  He knocked out Kevin Kolb in week one.  Trent Edwards lost his job to Ryan Fitzpatrick after week two.  If I was Jay Cutler, I'd be very nervous.

Mike McCarthy's mantra of accountability and availability, never more evident than right now.  Will Blackmon hurt a lot?  He got cut.  Atari Bigby only available for half the games each season?  Enter Morgan Burnett.  Now Chad Clifton is having a hard time practicing with his bulky knees, and along with not "getting after it" on backside blocks in the run game...the decade long run of the left tackle could be giving way to first round rookie Bryan Bulaga.

Brandon Jackson can't be the Packers starter at running back all year.  His 11 carry, 29 yard effort (for less than 3 yards a carry) unfortunately, in my opinion, is going to be more the norm than the rare performance.

Hard to believe there are just 4 2-0 teams in the NFC.  Only one team will stay undefeated when the 2-0 Packers take on the 2-0 Bears under the Soldier Field lights.  The Saints barely survived in San Fran to go to 2-0, and the Bucs are shocking everyone at 2-0.  I'm not putting too much weight on the Packers-Bears tilt, but with New Orleans looking strong again...you don't want to lose too many in the NFC with home field advantage possibly on the line down the road.
