Red Cross and Kohl's Inc.
A Winning Match
During our live mini-telethon on July 26th, Red Cross Regional CEO Patty Flowers got some wonderful news. Kohl's Corporation agreed to match donations with a $100,000 dollar gift! What a blessing and a tremendous gift. Especially after the destruction and pain caused by last week's record rainfall.
At 19th and Eggert in Milwaukee, people are having to deal with possibility of their homes being razed. Flood victim Jerry Givens told our Michael George, "It's been Hell." He got more than two feet of water in his basement, and has spent the last four days, feverishly cleaning up.
There are similar stories in Shorewood and Whitefish Bay, where more than 900 homes were damaged from last week's heavy downpours.
Seeing the stories of struggling families waterlogged by the unrelenting rain has been hard.
How wonderful to be able to report good news. TMJ4 viewers donated $26,000 to help flood victims.
The generous folks at Kohl's Corporation matched that amount with $100,000.
That means $126,000 raised in only 4 hours. An impressive accomplishment.
Many have lost lifetime memories after last week's devastation. However, there's comfort in knowing that people care. TMJ4 viewers, the American Red Cross, and Kohl's Corporation are true heroes. All are examples of what "Positively Milwaukee" is all about.
