Remembering the Needy
This holiday season, I think we should all do something that is not holiday related. That is mark on our calendars to think of the needy when the season is over.
I recently got a call from a 10-year-old boy from Kenosha who wants to hold a food drive on President's Day. This astute young man feels worried that too much attention is given to the poor during the season of merriment. But even at his tender age, he knows, the need is year round.
The young man, whose father is in the military, is especially concerned about our troops living with financial woes. What an insightful child!
Most kids that age are thinking about themselves, their toys, who they will play with, their favorite television shows, not the less fortunate.
I guess we can learn a lot when we listen to what comes out of the "mouths of babes." That young man is proof that you don't have to be a big person to be blessed with a big heart.
