Carole Meekins: Positively Milwaukee

Remembering a Hero

  • Print
One of the highlights of my week was a trip to Caledonia. There I interviewed a man whose Marine son died in Iraq. David Wyatt will be featured in a special Positively Milwaukee report in a few weeks. We talked about his son, the military, and why he was moved to make a video tribute of his son's funeral. It's a beautiful moving dedication to a young hero who left this earth too soon. But I was felt proud that David presented me and photojournalist Joe Eufemi with a Challenge Coin. It's in memory of his son, LCpl. Daniel Wyatt. Wyatt was killed in action October 12, 2004. I plan to have the coin framed. It's a fitting reminder of why we all should be thankful every day, and why we must never forget or brave men and women in harms way. Thank you David for the coin, and most of all for raising a son with enough strength, courage, and bravery to join the United States Marines.
