Carole Meekins: Positively Milwaukee

Winter Thoughts

You know it's a cold winter when we are applauding the arrival of 30's. But something fascinating is about to happen. There's a chance we could reach 40 degrees next week. Yipee!!! Imagine that. I might just live dangerously and leave the house without a muffler. Or I may throw caution to the wind and exchange my thermal mittens for my leather gloves. And who knows, I may just wear only one layer. is good. It's quite funny when we hear that people in Miami are all wrapped up this week. The temperatures dipped into the fifties and many were walking around all bundled up like Eskimos. But I guess it's all relative. When I was young, we lived in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. There was almost always several feet of snow on the ground. When it got to the 60's many people went out and suntanned. When we moved to San Antonio Texas, the 60's meant it was time to bring out the parka's. So I guess it's all what you are used to. Me personally, I've always welcomed a weather variety. I love the change in seasons. When it comes to the weather, too much of the same thing is boring, even if it's sunny and blue skies. New seasons make you feel more vibrant and alive. And, you adapt. So let's applaud our anemic winter temperatures. Without them, an above freezing forecast would not give us reason to rejoice.
