8/29/07 "A Soldier Farewell"
If you are enjoying life..you can thank a soldier. It's perhaps a motto we should all adopt as more men and women are called to active duty. Recently we here at Channel 4 discovered that an engineer has been called to serve in Iraq. Trina Coleman is a valuable member of the TMJ4 team. She is also in the Naval Reserves. Like most soldiers she is ready to serve her country. She does not know her duties. She does not know exactly where she will be. Just somewhere in Iraq.
But Trina has been called up and she must serve.Trina will spend the next few weeks getting her home and papers in order. Luckily she has family, friends and loved ones to help her out. Still, it's a sacrifice. Her life will be put on hold for at least a year. She will be facing an enemy both known and unknown. She'll be giving more for her country than most couch potatoes who sit and complain about their taxes.
But Trina, a dignified smart woman , is reliable in a quiet way. She exudes class and courage. rina is a true role model. She's an example of the changing face of this war. Today, many soldiers are baby boomers, women, even mothers. Trina does not crave the spotlight. She just believes in doing her job.
And just like all of brave men and women like Trina we should also be on a mission. We need to support our troops in battle and on the homefront. We should all do everything humanly possible to pay back these unsung heroes. They deserve our thoughts, our prayers and our attention. After all, freedom is not free!
