November has been as advertised…mild! The average temperature for November has been almost 3 degrees above normal and the 30 day outlook was for above normal temperatures. The month was also expected to be near normal with precipitation and Milwaukee has had more than 2” for the month. The average is 2.7”.
For those of you that are not a fan of winter and snow, Milwaukee has only had 0.1” of snow on the 10th. The normal November snowfall is 3.6”. Last November only had a trace of snow and then Milwaukee got 3.6” of snow on December 4th and a total of 8” for the month…also below normal.
Winter got off to a slow start last year, but we ended up being snowy thanks to the 20” in January and the 30” in February…most of that from the blizzard. Meteorological winter begins on Thursday, December 1st, and it feels like that date the past few years means a snow. Last December 1st just had a trace of snow and 2009 was dry, while Dec. 1st 2008 had 3.8” of snow. December 1st 2007 had heavy rain that changed to almost 4” of wet snow. December 2006 started with a huge snowstorm that dropped more than 10” of snow in Milwaukee..the only snow that month.
There is a slight chance for light snow on Thursday.
