Happy Halloween! Today will be sunny and seasonal with highs in the 50s and a light breeze and kids should actually get to show off their costumes this evening instead of the Wisconsin winter coat like they do for so many Halloweens. Temperatures will be in the upper 40s with a light breeze during trick-o-treating this evening.
This past week was chilly, but October was 3 degrees above normal and it was dry with about an inch below normal rainfall. The reason for the mild and dry October was the 12 consecutive perfect days of weather with sunshine and highs in the 70s and 80s the first 2 weeks of the month. The warmest day was 82 on the 8th and then 80 on the 7th. The coldest day of the month was on the 26th with a high of 48, a gusty wind and heavy drizzle…typical fall day in Wisconsin.
Friday and Saturday were sunny and nice fall days with highs near 50, but scattered showers but a damper on some trick or treating yesterday afternoon.
The past two Halloweens have been windy and chilly. Last year was 47 and quickly dropped to near 40 by evening. It was also 47 in 2009 with a very blustery wind up to 30 mph. 2008 was perfect with a high of 71 degrees, 2007 was 61 degrees and 2006 was 60.
