Brian Gotter: Welcome Back, Gotter

Cooler and smoky

  • Print

The forecast for Milwaukee, Waukesha and SE Wisconsin was for sunshine and cooler temperatures behind the cold front that passed through early this morning, but after a sunny start to the day, the strong northwest winds are blowing smoke into the area from a huge wildfire in NE Minnesota that has been burning for almost a month now.  If it were not for the smoke, we would be enjoying a beautiful clear sky with highs near 70.

Lows tonight will fall into the upper 40s under a clear sky and a light breeze.

The wind will be out of the NW again tomorrow so expect more haze and smoke from the Minnesota wildfire.  If you have breathing issues…take it easy the next few days because of the smoke.

Highs tomorrow will be even cooler..only in the lower 60s.  Lows Wednesday night will drop to the lower 40s along the lake and mid 30s west of Waukesha so patchy frost is possible well inland.

Thursday highs will be in the upper 50s and the smoke should not be a problem as the wind shifts to the north.  Friday morning could see patchy inland frost once again and lows near 40 along the lake.

Highs on Friday remain near 60 despite lots of sun and we finally start to warm up for the weekend with highs in the mid to upper 60s on Saturday and 70 on Sunday.  There is a chance for afternoon showers on Sunday, but the best chance of rain is Sunday night and Monday.
