Fall Weather Right on Schedule
As of yesterday, meteorological summer is over and we are now in fall, but it sure does not feel like it yesterday or today.
I know, astronomical fall begins on September 21, but meteorologically speaking, the 3 warmest months of the year are now behind us and even though it feels like summer today, September can get chilly. I wrote a few weeks ago that it never fails to get chilly around Labor Day weekend and this year is no exception.
The recent heat wave is short-lived and will be done this evening with a cold front bringing strong to severe storms with large hail and damaging winds. Storms will continue overnight and showers are likely on and off on Saturday with highs in the 70s. Most of the area could pick up an inch of rain…Milwaukee only had 0.62” the entire month of August..the 10th driest on record.
Sunday and Monday will be sunny and breezy with highs near 70 on Sunday and mid to upper 60s on Monday. The air will be very dry and cool with the northerly breeze…just in time for Labor Day weekend. Next week looks comfortable with highs in the low to mid 70s.
The early word on the Packer game Thursday is sunny and 74 during the day and cooling into the lower 60s by the end of the game…beautiful fall football weather.
