Brian Gotter: Welcome Back, Gotter

Weekend Fun

  • Print

It was another busy and fun Gotter Weekend with a party, tailgating, Family Night at Lambeau and golf with friends.

All the fun started minutes after I got home Friday night with our annual summer party.  Last year we had more than 80 people in our backyard, but this year we scaled it back just a little bit, but it was still a great time with many of our friends.  It was a beautiful night to sit around a fire and have fun with our friends.  It was a late night and of course that means the kids woke up early on Saturday...isn't that how it always works?

Saturday was a fun day around the house after the morning cleanup from the party.  We left for Green Bay for Family Night around 2:30 with our neighbors and their kids.  This was a last minute decision to go and we should have stayed home.  Shocking, it stormed for Family Night again...that makes 3 of 4 years now.  Last year was perfect weather and we met our friends at Lambeau at 11am for 7 hours of tailgating and fun with the kids.  We have been too busy to do that this year, but we met my aunt and uncle and started tailgating at 4:30 until 6:15 while the kids played football.  We headed into Lambeau by 6:30 and it started to rain shortly after 7...go figure.  The kids didn't care.  They were running around the Club while we watched the Brewer game for 2 hours.  The fireworks were very cool and we were the last people in the stadium...seriously.  The kids loved walking in the stadium when it was empty.  I was even told Tina, myself and the kids made the Family Night TV broadcast...friends from western Wisconsin saw us.  Cool, I was on TV..LOL!

Austin will not remember it, but it was his first time inside Lambeau Field and was taking it all in.  The sights, the sounds, the fly-over...his head was spinning.  It was a proud dad moment for me, especially when he sat in my seat!  We got home at midnight and the kids were awesome once again...Austin was awake until we walked out of the stadium shortly after 10 and he was all smiles.  So many people came up to us raving how good he was.  We are very lucky to have great kids.

Sunday I went golfing in the late afternoon with friends and then they all stopped by to play with the kids before we put them to bed.

I was tired...two late nights and the kids were up both mornings around 6am.  Get this, they slept in until 8:30 this morning...go figure!  They do that on purpose!
