Hot, Humid, Some Evening Storms
Milwaukee and SE Wisconsin are in the grips of a heat wave with highs in the mid 90s for a second straight day, but no records..yet. Sunday’s high was 95 and the record is 98 from 1942. Monday’s high in Milwaukee was 94 and the record is 97 from 1991.
It is the heat and the humidity this week as dew points are oppressive and dangerous in the mid to upper 70s and near 80 which is very rare. Heat indices are between 100 and 110 from now until Thursday before a cold front moves into the state and cools us down just a bit.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until midnight for all of SE Wisconsin as a few T’storms this evening and overnight will help cool areas down, but will make the humidity that much more uncomfortable with lows in the mid 70s tonight.
The T’storms tonight are from a weak cold front that will shift the winds to the NE for Tuesday, dropping the temperatures into the 80s near the lakefront and lower 90s west of Waukesha with high humidity across the area.
The heat and extreme humidity are back for Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the mid 90s and heat indices around 110 degrees. The record for Wednesday is 100 from 1930 and Thursday’s record is 99 from 1983.
Another cold front moves into Wisconsin on Thursday night with T’storms and some relief, but do not expect 70s and low humidity. Highs will remain in the upper 80s with humidity…just not as bad as it has been.
