Shelley Walcott: Don't Tell The BossA Public Apology!By Shelley WalcottI was going through some of the blogs I wrote in the last few months, and I came across one that I now kind of regret. It totally slammed someone who has since become much more of a sympathetic figure to me. So I wanted to take this opportunity to offer a public apology... to Kate Gosselin. That's right, Kate. Formerly with Jon... still with the eight. My original blog on the Gosselin's came shortly after they became tabloid fodder. Here it is: http://www.todaystmj4.com/bloggers/walcottthoughts/48092287.html After watching some clips of "Jon and Kate Plus 8", I wasn't very impressed with Kate. She seemed to constantly snipe at Jon. Belittle him. I found her so rude, I called the program a "how-to guide on emasculation". But since I started watching the show, I can see why Kate was always on Jon's case. The guy is a tool. One of those wimpy types who tries really hard to fit into his role of suburban Dad, but really wants to just jump on his Harley and ride off into the sunset --- all by himself. There's no doubt he loves those kids. DNA will do that to a person. But there's something about him that just wasn't fully committed. Ladies... you know what I mean. Since the Gosselins announced their divorce, Jon appears to be hooking up with some dumb young thing every week. Kate is also constantly in front of the cameras, but her motives are different. She's not out there slamming Jon. And she isn't dating anyone. Kate still wears her wedding ring. She is the primary caregiver of her kids. She cries when she has to give up time with them in the name of custody rules. She admits to sticking with the TLC show for the money. I mean, can you think of a better way to support eight kids? And as for Jon, she says she still loves him. At least the guy he used to be. Kate... is just keeping it real. Talk about flipping the script. As a woman, I identify with any other woman just trying to do right by her young children whose future depends on the revenue Mom and Dad can generate today. I get you now Kate. I sympathize with you. And I am fascinated by your moxie. And like many of us moms who sacrifice much of our own lives for the sake of our children... I can't help but wish you well. |
