Down Barney down!

By Shelley Walcott

It's been a long, hard campaign season for everyone --- the candidates, the pundits, the public...

But who would have ever guessed that Barney... President George Bush's Scottish terrier... would be the first one to have a public meltdown.

The dog actually bit a White House reporter last week.  The guy was trying to pet him, and out came the fangs!

It was so un-Barney like.  He's usually so cute.  But apparently the now lame duck First Dog is feeling a little grumpy after the election.

Maybe he's feeling a little like he's in the doghouse...

After all, he's being forced to move into new digs in just 45 days... as he and the Bush family move back to Texas.

So Barney gave a biting commentary... stealing the headlines for what should be the last time during his owner's administration.

Meantime, the debate is raging over what type of dog the Obamas will be adopting.

It's an important choice --- can't just throw any old hound up in the White House.

Here's a few suggestions:

Perhaps a poodle named Maverick?

A hound dog named Joe?

Or how about a rottweiler named Jeremiah?

Oh the choices...

First dog is one of the most important offices the President - Elect will have to fill.

O.k., no it isn't.

But it sure will be fun to see what the pick will be.
