Shelley Walcott: Don't Tell The Boss

At Home With The Kids

At Home With The Kids

Shelley Walcott

It's hard to believe that I am more than half way through maternity leave!

Seriously... where does the time go?

Thanks to all of you who have written, asking for pictures of my new little boy Noah Michael.  I would have posted pictures already, but I seem to be having computer trouble.  Or maybe I just forgot how to post on the ol' blog.   It has, after all, been weeks!

This has easily been the best summer of my life.  It's mostly a blur of midnight feedings, playdates, day camp and tennis lessons. My focus has been almost entirely on my kids.  Which has been a really cool change of pace.

A funny thing: During my first couple of weeks at home, I found that I had started watching a bit too much of TMJ4.

You see, when reporters watch the news, it isn't just information we're ingesting.  It's all the politics of work.  The newscast is kind of like a window into the office.

But then... divine intervention:

A huge tree in my backyard came into full bloom, blocking a portion of our satellite signal, and knocking out TMJ4.  For  weeks, I was unable to watch anything on NBC.  And that forced me to forget about work entirely.

Talk about timing.

At last check, my Noah was over 12 pounds!  He's just thriving.  And he reallly is a gorgeous kid.

Taylor and I took the kids to Miller Park today. We expected to stay for maybe an hour, but we ended up making it all the way to the seventh inning stretch!  Noah slept most of the time, and Ashley just stuffed her face and paid some attention to the baseball game.

A miracle.

And that's what our summer has been like so far:  Blissfully smooth.

Hope yours is going well too.  I'll try to write (and post more pictures) soon!
