Shelley Walcott: Don't Tell The Boss

D-Day Tomorrow!

Shelley Walcott

Tomorrow is "D" day.

And by "D" I mean delivery.

Which begs the question: How exactly am I supposed to feel the day before I'm carved up like Thanksgiving turkey and my new son is served up to the world?

I mean seriously...

This has been one of the busiest weeks of my life.  Family has flown in from Canada.  More should be arriving this weekend.  My daughter is having a big dance recital this weekend.  And, oh yeah, she wraps up the school year and will be on summer vacation starting next week.

And then there are all kinds of personal choices that Taylor and I have to make.  Things I hadn't even really thought about.  Like the question my doctor asked me at a recent appointment: "Tubal ligation?" she wanted to know. "I can do it during your C-section."

Seriously, I was kind of stumped.  Because my plan really is to get off that operating table as quickly as possible.  Just pull the baby out and sew me up please.  No extra fuss or muss and fuss, thank you very much.

"Um... I need to check with my pastor," I said.

Judge me if you must...  I usually take a whole lot of time with big life decisions.

Heck, it took me six years to even decide to have another kid!

But my boy arrives tomorrow.  And I am officially on maternity leave.  It's an exciting time, and a scary time...

And about time.

I haven't completely decided whether I'll be blogging during my time away from the station...  But I may from time to time.

But family first... and I have oodles to focus on at home right now.

So I wish you all a wonderful summer...

I'll try my best to stay in touch!
