Shelley Walcott: Don't Tell The Boss

"After the break... Shelley gives birth!!"

Shelley Walcott

The men I work with have developed a certain relish for this whole 'Shelley could give birth at any second' scenario.

It's my own fault.  I've been whining about Braxton Hicks contractions for about a week now, and I think it's finally freaked the rest of the weekend crew out.  They're convinced I'm going to explode at any second.

Take Scott Steele.  Last week during a commercial break I mentioned that the baby had dropped some.  After his next weathercast, Scott said something like, "And stay tuned... after the break Shelley could be in labor!"

Good grief.

And this Sunday night, at the end of the 5 p.m. show,  Charles Benson said something like... "Tune in at 10 to see if Shelley's given birth!"

It really is such a cheap ploy.

Strangely, out of all of my co-anchors, Rod Burks has been the most --- well --- proactive.  He told me that he, out of the kindness of his own heart, would help me if my water broke.

That's so sweet...  and so gross all at the same time.

I just hope that if I do go into labor it's not at work.  No offense to anyone here.  It's just that I really believe that...well...

... maybe some things should be left up to the imagination!
