Up close... it's pretty nasty looking.

Rod's left eye is swollen, red and watery... a good size gash underneath it had to be glued shut by doctors.

It looks painful, even 10 days after he sustained the mysterious injury.  You should have seen him last week.  He couldn't even go on air!

People around the newsroom have been speculating, coming up with all kinds of juicy theories to explain what may have happened to Rod.  But here's Rod's official version of truth:

He says he woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.  His apartment was dark, and he ended up walking into a door.  Didn't even notice how badly he hurt himself, he says, until he felt the blood pouring down his face.  He rushed himself to the hospital.  Had to get a tetanus shot and everything!

And that's Rod's story.  And he's sticking to it.

Man, that was one tough door.

So here's the lesson for all you midnight tinklers --- try to avoid all inanimate objects in the dark.

Because they could knock you senseless.
