Walcotts Thoughts

What Should We Name Our Son?

What Should We Name Our Son?

Shelley Walcott

Ahh... the third trimester.  A time to experience the joys of backaches, sleepiness.... and arguments over what to name the kid.

Ok, maybe not arguments...   Let's say healthy disagreements.  Ordinarily, Taylor and I would have just named our son Taylor Jr.  But we had a daughter first, and at the time we thought we would just be one-and-done.  So we named our little girl Ashley Taylor.  So Dad's name is taken.  My husband suggested we name our son Taylor anyway.  Can you believe that? I vetoed that idea.

So lately we've been boucing around all kinds of names --- everything from Michael to Makai and Bryan to Barry.  But we just can't seem to agree on a name!

We thought about using a family name... but none of them seemed quite right.  We thought about waiting until the baby is born... but we're afraid there won't be any agreement then either.  And I'd hate for the kid not to have a name weeks after he's born.

I've tried to draw inspiration from the "Top 10 Names" list that come out every year.  Here are the choices for 2007:

1. Aiden

2. Ethan

3. Jacob

4. Jayden

5. Caden

6.  Noah

7. Jackson

8.  Jack

9. Logan

10. Matthew

Hmm...  Jayden.  LIke that.  Noah.  Really like that!   But we'll see.  Want to give the kid a moniker to be proud of.

Because there is a whole lot in a name!
