Vince Vitrano: Not For BroadcastSHAWN HIT FOR THE SAUSAGE CYCLEATE 'EM ALL AT MILLER PARKBy Vince VitranoThe most impressive performance I've witnessed in person at Miller Park this year did not occur on the field, nor by any Milwaukee Brewer. We went to the ballgame Saturday night. I was pleased that despite my taking in a half dozen games this year, it was the first time I saw a win. Amazing how much more fun a night at the ballpark can be when the Crew isn't down 6-0 after 4.
That said, even more impressive than the speed of Alcides Escobar (and that is quite impressive) was my wife's cousin Shawn hitting for the cycle... in sausage. Dude had every one of the tasty Klement's offerings. He went 2-2-and-1. The top pics are of Italian and Polish. Shawn went for flavor first, and grabbed two of his favorites off the bat. You can see his very proud wife Sherry in the background. She was really happy for Shawn. I mean, what wife wouldn't be thrilled with that kind of performance?
Shawnie then dialed up the Brat and Chorizo. The Chorizo was harder to find than you might think. We had to walk to the other side of the ballpark and find one of those push-cart kind of things. No worries. He got Chorizo wrapped in a tortilla with pico de gallo.
Shawn finished with the hot dog. Secret Stadium sauce, of course. The guy was no worse for the wear, really. Suffered few, if any, immediate ill effects. Very impressive. emails: vvitrano@todaystmj4.com
