What makes a man a man and a woman a woman?

Before you offer the obviously simple answer, consider the story we ran this morning about a man claiming to be pregnant.

He used to be a she. She underwent "sexual reassignment" treatments. She had surgery on her breasts, took testosterone, but never got the business downstairs reworked.

She has lived as a man ever since, in fact marrying a woman.

The couple decided to have a baby, and apparently it's worked. He's now pregnant.
