Rupert, the Puppymill Survivor 5/1/2007

By John Mercure

In one of our recent investigative reports on Wisconsin Puppymills we introduced you to a little dog that we said in the piece, "Might not make it because he had a belly full of worms."  You can see Rupert in this report here.

Well there is great news.  Rupert is healthy and fine.  He has some problems from being raised in the puppymill, but he is going to make it.  I heard from the kind woman who adopted Rupert.  She sent me an email.  I am posting her email to me and some of the happy pictures of Rupert.

Dear John:

My husband and I recently found out about the Puppy Mill Investigation and
watched the clip online this afternoon.  We wanted to inform you that we
recently adopted the one puppy in the clip that the rescue unit mentioned
might not make it because he had a belly full of worms.  We adopted him-
Rupert- on March 31st and had no idea the extent of the environment he was
in until we saw this investigation. We had heard that he came from a puppy
mill, but never truly knew what went on there.  The foster mom (from
Bullies-N-Friends in Baraboo, WI) informed us today that he was indeed the
one shown in the clip.  We thought you would like to know that Rupert is now
healthy and in a good home.  His personality is growing and has added daily
laughs to our lives.  We have attached a couple of pictures- two from his
adoption posting and two recent pictures.

Thank you for doing this investigation and bringing awareness to the puppy
mill situation.
