Some guys just never know when to shut up. Minnesota Viking Darren Sharper is at the top of that list. This is one guy who might benefit from a vigorous neck massage. This guy sure likes the sound of his own voice.
This week, Sharper, the most overrated safety in Pro football, started talking smack about Brett Favre. Sharper crowed, "Some of the throws he's making, I just hope he tries that against us. Those 50-yard balls over the middle of the field, we'll see how much success he has." That is sure a lot of talk from the leader of the #22 defense in the league. #22. You must be so proud. It gets better, the Minnesota pass defense led by Mr Sharper is #31. That's right 31 out of 32. Nice work, Sharper.
Agreed, Mr. Sharper. Let's just see how much success he has. In several individual years Brett Favre has had more success than you, Mr. Sharper, will have in your entire career. And now that you are in the Land of 10,000 idiots, you will never achieve the ultimate success, a Super Bowl Ring. The Vikes couldn't win the big game if their lives depended on it. How does 0-4 in the Super Bowl fit?
Of course, Favre is taking the high road. Publicly he appears to be disinterested in Sharper's comments. You can bet that behind closed doors this little bulletin board material will be good fodder for the leader of the Pack.
I want to share one story with you. In 1997 when Sharper was drafted by the Packers I was working at WLUK TV in Green Bay. I was the emcee for a big United Way event about a half hour North of Green Bay. Part of the deal was that Sharper, and my wife, and I shared a limo to and from the event. It was intertesting. Even then, a young Sharper couldn't keep his big flap shut. This guy talked so much that it was hard to even get a word in. Some say that he is cocky. I think arrogant is a better word.
Sharper you are a clown.
One final footnote... this is the same guy who endorsed John Kerry for President in 2004. Sharper really knows a winner, doesn't he?
He chose the Kerry and he chose the Vikings. Nice work. Enough said.
