Carole's Positively Milwaukee: The Good NewsEnough of MIchael Jackson's Burning HairBy Carole Meekins
Do we really need to see Michael Jackson's head catch on fire?
The pictures have been making their ways around the entertainment and news networks and have gotten thousands of clicks on "YouTube."
No doubt, someone made a lot of money selling them. But I can't help but wonder if this is an image we really need to see?
I find it sad how many people are watching it over and over. It seems odd and sadistic to me. I do not get joy in seeing people in pain or peril.
We all know the outcome of the King of Pop. We are all aware of the sad ending. His family says it was after that fiery accident that Michael Jackson became addicted to painkillers.
To witness another person's agony and is not entertaining or enlightening. I know full well, it's been shown all over the country including here at TMJ4.
But I prefer to remember Michael Jackson as a talented young man who lost his way. Give me the images of "Billy Jean" or "Thriller," not the video of a freak accident that began the downward spiral of one of the greatest entertainers in history.
