THEY GOT ONE CALL RIGHT

AND ONE WRONG....PLUS OTHER PACK NOTES YOU'LL LOVE

By Lance Allan

Are you still as confused about that illegal forward pass/unnatural throwing motion safety that Aaron Rodgers got called for in the Metrodome?

Well, me too.  But rest assured...NFL director of officiating Mike Pereira defends referee Al Riveron, saying the only mistake Al made was calling the infraction an illegal forward pass.  Pereira said the call should have been intentional grounding.  Pereira says failing to throw the ball at or past the line of scrimmage, and failing to throw in the area of a receiver...and that an "unnatural throwing motion" does come under consideration in plays like this.

Can Pereira just officiate the game, since he's one of the few officials that makes sense?

But the one Pereira should repremand his boys for is Adrian Peterson taking his helmet off after his TD.  That's a celebration penalty, 15 yards every time.  Who knows....the Vikes would have kicked off from the 15...and the Packers wouldn't have settle for a 52-yard field goal.  I'm just saying....

On his weekly appearance on FOX Sports radio, Mike McCarthy admits that the lack of practice for Aaron Rodgers, because of his injured shoulder, is affecting his play.  Footwork, timing, holding on to the ball too long...all products of practicing less than needed for a 24-year-old first time starter.
