QUICK HITTERS & QUITTERS

PACK, FAVRE, CREW AND BADGERS ALL COVERED

By Lance Allan

Just the way I thought the Packers would be able to win....

Run the ball at the small Colts DT's, control the clock, and play keep away with Peyton Manning.  I just thought the score would be 30-27...not the 34-14 blowout it turned out to be.

Don't believe me?  Just check it out right here:  http://www.todaystmj4.com/bloggers/lanceallan/31220954.html

And what is it about week 7 that gets Ryan Grant going?  This year, 105 yards rushing as he finally re-emerges.  Last year, he emerged as the Packers best runner with 104 yard performance in week 7 against the Broncos.

The biggest bombshell came off the field before the game, when FOX's Jay Glazer reported that Brett Favre helped break down the Packers tendancies with the Lions before the two teams played in week 2.  Now there's nothing illegal about alleged incident, but among players it's a very taboo issue.  We were there when Charles Woodson delivered the strongest statements about the whole thing:

"He contacted them? I don't respect that," Woodson said after the Packers' victory over Indianapolis on Sunday. "If they call him and he gives them information, that's one thing. But to seek a team out and to feel like you're trying to sabotage this team, I don't respect that. I know he's been the greatest player around here for a long time, but there's no honor in that."

In my follow up question, I asked Woodson if it happened a lot in the NFL, and if that was acceptable.

"I've never called a coach on another team and told them what's going to happen," Woodson said. "It is what it is. Obviously he says he wasn't bitter about what happened, but obviously there is a little bit of resentment there."

Aaron Kampman told me he wasn't totally aware of the report, but he had the ultimate touche statement, saying "Obviously it didn't help the Lions much, because they didn't win the game" before saying "I'm not touching that with a ten foot pole."

As for the Brewers managerial search, I said it all weekend...I think it's Bob Brenly one, Ken Macha two.  We'll see if I still feel that way later in the week.

As for quitters, it's clear to see the Badgers season is over.  I'm normally not a huge advocate for players leaving early for the NFL, but if I'm Travis Beckum, why did I come back to Madison for this?  It certainly cost the former Oak Creek star some money in next year's draft.
