Sports Glance With LanceI'LL KEEPING BEATING A DEAD HORSEYOU GUYS LOVE THE FAVRE TOPICBy Lance Allan
Fred and Diane Schaejbe write: Three years ago, Ted Thompson came to the Packers. Total coincidence. Like when Mike Tyson's mouth just happened to close on Evander Holyfield's ear, and a chunk came flying out. Total coincidence! There's always a jokester in the crowd. How about this one:
On that line, let's just get Anthony Dilweg and Blair Kiel while we're at it. Suzanne Lewitzke not down with what Favre did:
My kids get sick of Daddy whining. They're still stuck with me! And one of my old high school buddies, Ryan DeNucci writes: Perhaps Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy need a few history lessons:
July 3, 1863, Battle of “We are moving forward!”
Gen. Lee to Gen. Longstreet after the latter argued moving the Confederate Army
around the
result was Gen. Pickett’s division being completely decimated.
December 26, 1919,
“Mr. Ruth, you have been traded to the New York Yankees.”
This nifty trade sent Babe Ruth to the Yankees for $100,000. Like today’s
Favre’s situation, the general manager grew tired of Ruth’s demands and simply
wanted the Babe gone. The result was the Red Sox falling under the spell of
“The Curse of the Babe” which, as legend has it, prevented them from winning
the World Series for 86 years. During that time, you have to admit, the Red Sox
found plenty of weird, agonizing and unforgettable ways to lose championships.
Those who fail to learn from history, tend to repeat it.
Makes me want to go back and study all that stuff I slept through in the 80's. Email your thoughts to lallan@todaystmj4.com |

I'm still going thru your reponses on the Favre topic....and since they've been so wildly popular, I'll keep pounding this thing into the ground.
Former Green Bay Packers starting quarterback Don Majkowski has entered in a bitter dispute with his former organization, admitting he is 'guilty of retiring too early' 12 years ago, while demanding he be reinstated as the team's starter or given the opportunity to play elsewhere.
He should stick to what he did[retiring] I think he's a selfish man.Every year at the end of the season,he'd whine about retiring. He doesn't think people aren't tired of it EVERY year end. Then he finally does retire, everyone moves on except for him.He wasn't getting enough ATTENTION,or what?
