Sports Glance With LanceBRETT FAVRE: WHAT TO BELIEVE?PLENTY TO CHEW ON HEREBy Lance AllanWith more twists and turns than a mountain road, the Batman ride at Six Flags, or a pretzel (take your pick), this Brett Favre saga continues to be a hang onto your seat you're going for a ride story. And depending on what you read, is what you believe: The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that trade talks with the Jets are heating up. Newsday in New York reports they remain about the same. One Packers official tells me nothing's really changed or heated up. The Packers claim that the $20 million offer over 10 years iin a marketing services contract is not to keep Brett Favre retired, that it was in the works for awhile. Funny that it would come up now again, when Favre is ready to make his comeback...and funny that someone on the Packers side leaked their PR spin of this to a few media outlets that didn't originally report the story, because even though Favre is considering the offer, even he said in a text message to ESPN's Ed Werder that "his (Mark Murphy's) solution, although awkward and unsettling for most, may be the best in the end." Sorry, I'm not paid by the Packers and cheer for the Packers, I'm paid to report the facts I know. And this just makes it look like the Packers panicked, and want Favre to stay retired. Will Favre ever get on that flight from Hattiesburg? The flight log changed about 6 times that I counted before he canceled. Will Favre ever get reinstated? It seems like Commissioner Roger Goodell is waiting until either a trade goes down, Favre accepts the marketing deal, or until the Hall Of Fame weekend/Family Night scrimmage festivities are over. Favre also told Ed Werder that he would play in the division. Man, I could bear the sight of him in Vikings purple. Emails at lallan@todaystmj4.com
