"Something's bound to happen."

With those words, Brett Favre not only left a crack open for his return, but unfortunately, he just opened that door a little more.

Making these comments on the "Late Show With David Letterman" will not only fuel the fire, it's like dousing it with gasoline. 

To Letterman's credit, he pressed Favre on the issue, to which Favre replied, "Did I just say that?"

Letterman poked and prodded again, asking "You just said something's bound to happen, so this makes me think you're not retired."

Instead of slamming the door, Favre says "Butterflies, so I don't know, something's bound to happen."

Now one part that was funny was Letterman asking Brett if he would be interested in playing if adjustments could be made in the training camp schedule.

Favre asks, "Can you get that worked?"

Letterman replies, "Yes, I can take care of that," and the audience erupts with laughter.

Now that's playful, and disarming.  The other comments again fuel this small chance that Brett's not done.  I realize later this year, he'll probably have pangs to play at some point.  But Brett, you just don't need to verbalize those thoughts this early...on national TV...to make everyone think you are paving your own comeback.
