Sports Glance With LanceLJ TO GREEN BAY?By Lance AllanI don't care if it's a long shot....it's still better than no shot at all. I'm told that the Packers are keeping a very close eye on the Larry Johnson situation in Kansas City.
Next to LaDanian Tomlinson (LT), LJ is the best running back in the NFL. He's in the last year of his deal, and threatening to hold out for LT money...in the $60 million dollar range. Yes, Larry Johnson is the player Dick Vermeil said needed to grow up and "take the diapers off." But that was three years ago. Since then, Johnson led the NFL with 416 carries last year...and had a "disappointing" season last year with "only" 17 TD's to go along with 1,789 yards rushing. The Packers have plenty of cap room. And Scouts Inc. recently rated the combo of Vernand Morency and Brandon Jackson as the 32nd best running combo in the NFL. That's 32 of 32 teams...or dead last in the league. Does it happen? Maybe only about a 20% chance. But it's a chance I'd be willing to take. Would you want Larry Johnson, if his price tag is $50 million plus? Would you still take him, in the last year of his contract as a potential free agent? Emails welcome at lallan@todaystmj4.com

And you know what? I love this possibility far better than the Randy Moss trade rumors. Within reason, and if Packers brass can get a guarantee that LJ will agree to a long term deal...you do the deal. Bottom line.
