Maybe lost in all the CC Sabathia talk is the fact that things remain as icy as the NFC Championship Game night between Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers.

Two new revelations: One, that Favre text messaged GM Ted Thompson on Saturday, asking to talk. Thompson pointly replied "I'm on vacation, we'll talk later." Doesn't sound like all seashells and balloons to me.

And two, Peter King of Sports Illustrated confirming what I reported last week...that Mike McCarthy told Favre in a recent phone conversation that his "itch" to play again is putting the Packers in a very difficult spot.

I'm telling you, things are going to get worse before they get any better...
