THINGS I LOVED HEARING FROM THE BREWERS
PLENTY TO LIKE HERE
Lance Allan
OK, I admit selfishly that I wanted the Brewers to trade anybody but Matt LaPorta. Even Mat Gamel, who has a better bat, but might be better suited for the American League because he has an iron glove.
I guess that's the cost of doing business, when you're trading for a Cy Young Award winner like CC Sabathia.
But here are some of the things I liked hearing from the Brewers:
When I asked GM Doug Melvin what type of statement this made, he said "I'd say we're going for it."
When I asked CC Sabathia how he handles pressure, he said "I'm out there laughing and having fun. And that's something I didn't do last year. WHEN WE GET TO THE PLAYOFFS, I'll definitely be doing that."
When I asked Brewers Owner Mark Attanasio about chaning the mentality from a seller to a buyer in the trade market, he admitted he was "taken aback" when Melvin first approached him on this. And while there will be a time when the Brewers need to be a seller, Attanasio says he always wants a buyer's mind set.
Ned Yost saying he loves filling out this pitching rotation schedule.
The Brewers selling nearly 30,000 tickets in one day when they normally sell about 3,000 per day.
