SHAPE UP WISCONSIN!

SHAPE UP WISCONSIN!

Great Campaign To Get Kids Active

Lance Allan

Clearly looking at the picture above, I'm probably not the ideal picture of health.  I always joke around that I run and work out because of the way I eat!  But in all seriousness, even with 3 kids and a busy job, I try to run 5 miles 3 times a week, and try to lift weights twice a week.

As a kid, I always made my own fun.  I biked into Rice Lake, the small town I grew up in....and played tennis.  Played hoops.  Played football.  And did whatever I could to have fun.

I may come off as an old fuddy duddy, but sadly, it's not that way anymore.

Yes, there are some kids that stay active, make good eating choices, and live a healthy lifestyle.  There are also nearly 50% of the kids in America that don't get the hour of exercise they need every day.

That's why it was so encouraging to see a great turnout at Riverside High School for Shape Up Wisconsin Kids Day.  Riverside one of more than 400 schools and 150,000 students making a pledge to get up, get active...and stay that way!
