Ok, so I'm not a 6-6, 270 pound rush end who can get home and sack the quarterback. But the Vikings trading a first round pick (17th overall), plus two third round picks, plus giving Allen $31 million guaranteed as part of a 6-year, $74 million deal borders on the absurd. Especially for a guy who off the field, has had multiple DUI convictions...although that seems to fit the Vikes quite nicely.

Yes, he led the NFL in sacks last year with 15 1/2....but this smacks of desperation. The Vikings do have a talented defensive line, anchored in the center by Pat and Kevin Williams. But end has been the problem, with Kenechi Udeze battling cancer and former Badger Erasmus James fighting repeated injuries and approaching bust territory.

Is the Vikings D-line better? It's up for debate, and certainly something that can motivate the Packers d-line come that first game in September. And somewhere, Aaron Kampman takes notice. That 4-year, $21 million deal with $12 million guaranteed that he signed two years ago....now looks like chump change. Time to pay the man again.
