I'm helping coach my youngest daughter's 5th grade club basketball team.
At practice on Saturday, I was running around with the girls doing a drill.
By the end of practice, my back was informing me that I had twisted or turned in a way that it did not appreciate.
Advil was administered when I got home...but it didn't help.
I had tweaked or sprained or strained or pulled something in my back so much that sleeping on Saturday Night was an adventure. (And by that I mean that every time I rolled over it was a new adventure in pain.)
The pain was worse on Sunday. And this wasn't just the "moving around" pain. It hurt even to sit still.
After a few more ineffective Advil, I switched to Tylenol and then hit the ice pack for a few hours.
It helped...a little.
Until I had to spend most of Sunday afternoon sitting on...
...bleachers!
Yep.
Of all the days, I had to go to a basketball coaches clinic on Sunday afternoon. There I was with all of the other coaches sitting on the bleachers for 2 and a half hours. Needless to say, I was rather squirmy as I tried to find a comfortable position.
At least after that I'd be able to return to my recliner and icepack, right?
Nope.
More bleachers.
Following the basketball meeting it was over to another gym where my kids and the entire 5th thru 12th grade student body were performing a choir and band concert.
That was another hour and a half on bleachers.
It was a great day...good basketball meeting and fantastic concert. But...
...owwwwwwwwwwww!
Following the concert it was finally time to go home and time to hit the rack.
I threw a handful of Tylenol in my mouth...and I'm happy to report I had a much better night sleep.
I'm still moving rather gingerly today, but it's better.
Thank goodness.
My back vs. the tag team of 5th grade girls & Father Time.
Father Time wins again.
I need to get in better shape, starting today.
Although...my back still hurts.
Maybe I'll take a nap instead.
