I just read the following on variety.com...

Rather covers election for French TV

Reporter tapped by Canal Plus

PARIS -- Former CBS star reporter Dan Rather has been tapped by French pay TV group Canal Plus  to cover the U.S. presidential election.

Rather will appear live from New York on Nov. 2 in the mag "Dimanche Plus" dedicated to the elections.

He will then host the election special on Nov. 4 and will be back on the air the following morning for post-election comments in the show "La Matinale."

Does this seem weird?  A guy who used to anchor the network news...in the United States...is now going to be cover an election...for president of the United States...on TV in France...from New York.

I mean, hey, more power to him.  You take the work where you can get it, I guess.

I can't believe he needs the money.

Maybe he thinks it will be fun.

Are they even that interested in the U.S. election in France?

I don't know...just seems odd to me.
