Collapse of Epic Proportions

The Brewers have played 14 games so far in September.

They have won 3 of them.

They have lost 11 of them.

And as bad as that sounds...it's actually worse than that.

Their 3 wins have all been 1-run victories.

They won one of them 3-2, thanks only to a JJ Hardy RBI single in extra innings.  CC Sabathia started that game.

They won one 1-0, thanks only to Ben Sheets pitching a complete game shutout.

And, they won a 4-3 game thanks only to a 2-out RBI single in the 8th inning by Mike Cameron.  CC Sabathia started that game.

Ho-ly cow.

They've given up their entire lead in the wild card chase, now tied with Philadelphia.

Here are our options as to how to view the situation this morning:

THE GLASS IS HALF FULL:  All the Brewers have to do is win one more game than the Philadephia over the last 2 weeks of the season and they are in the playoffs.

THE GLASS IS HALF EMPTY:  The way the Brewers are playing, they won't win one more game than anyone over the last 2 weeks of the season.

This can still be fixed.  They can still get hot and re-gain control of their playoff chances.

But if they don't, this will go down as one of the most monumental collapses in baseball history.

This team is ripping my heart out.
