Craig Koplien: Weather or NotI'm The Dad Of A High SchoolerBy Craig Koplien

On September 2nd, I became the father of a high school daughter. In total, my wife and I now have 1 in high school, 1 in middle school, and 1 in elementary school. (There are some photos at the bottom.) That's 3 daughters who have never given us one bit of trouble. We are blessed in every sense with girls who are healthy, bright, polite and athletic. I can't imagine any dad being more proud of his kids than I am of mine. But holy cow...high school! When did I get old enough to have a kid in high school? When did I get old enough to have a kid at all?!? I usually still feel like a high school kid myself. My daughter is going to the same school her old man went to. ![]() Go Big Red! Go Big Black! I picture her everyday, walking up and down the same hallways I used to. And get this, her locker is about 30 lockers down the hall from where mine was back in the '80s!! I thought I was so mature back then. And my parents...well, they were...you know..."parents-age" old. So now she thinks the same thing, right? That she's so mature...and that I'm "parents-age" old?!? When did this happen? (Come to think of it, doing the math, I'm older now than my parents were when I started high school.) ![]() My friend and news anchorman dude Vince Vitrano has 1 year old twins. Our morning traffic goddess Lisa Manna just had a new baby daughter about a week ago. What happened to my baby girls? I swear I was changing diapers about 5 minutes ago! In truth, nothing has been better than watching these kids grow. It seems there's a new adventure everyday...and something new to be proud of them about. But boy it goes fast. I just wish we could slow it down...at least a little. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
