Nearly everyone talking about the Brewers today will talk about how the clock finally struck Midnight for CC Sabathia.  They will tell you that horse whom the entire team has been riding for weeks finally couldn't get the job done on Thursday Night.  They will say that CC was responsible for the Brewers loss and subsequent 0-2 deficit in their playoff series.

Nope.

They're wrong.

The Brewers lost because they didn't hit.

They didn't hit last night.

They didn't hit the night before.

Except for a couple dramatic, late-inning home runs, they haven't hit for over a month.

I'll stipulate to the fact that CC committed the unforgivable when he walked Phillies pitcher Brett Myers shortly before giving up the Grand Slam to Shane Victorino.

But my goodness...the Brewers had 3 hits last night.

3 hits.

And only 4 hits the night before.

Last night. the good guys scored only 2 runs.  One of them scored thanks to the Phillies walking it in.  The other scored when the Brewers went Double-Sacrifice Fly-Fielder's Choice Groundout.  Not exactly Bambi's Bombers.

The night before, the Brewers lone run scored on a Phillies error.

The offense has been embarassing.

That's why the Brewers lost last night.
