A tornado hit the Columbia County community of Wyocena on Friday, April 25th.  Wyocena is about 25 miles north of Madison...just northwest of Rio.

The twister touched down at 5:18pm and moved from the southwest to the northeast.  It traveling about 27 miles from about 2 miles east of Dekorra to about 1.8 miles southeast of Markesan.  It was about 50 to 75 yards wide...with winds about 100 miles per hour.  Early estimates indicate it caused about a half million dollars worth of damage.

The purple line on the map below indicates the path the tornado took.  (Thanks to the National Weather Service office in Sullivan for the map!)
