Despite a cold gusty wind on Saturday, it was a good day. I got up early and worked in the yard as the sun came up. Man was it cold in that wind as i cut all the dead flowers and shrubs. I came in by 10am to thaw out and get ready for a Halloween party at Ali's friend Winnie's house. She misses her best friend since they started going to different schools this year but when they see each other they pick right up where they left off...hilarious.
There were about 15 kids and their parents and we all went trick or treating in Fox Point. The wind was howling and it was so cold, but the kids did not care. They were getting annoyed with how many people were not giving out candy in Fox Point. Oh yes, I am calling you out in Fox Point. Where is the Halloween spirit? These kids were so excited and you dashed their dreams of a sugar rush as they were denied house after house. The homes that did partake in the fun hooked the kids up with a load of chocolate..thank you!
We left by 2:30 to get back to Grafton so we could go trick or treating with the neighborhood kids at 4. Ali was getting tired and she was cold but she was ready to go again. I think there were more kids trick or treating in Grafton this year than the previous 3 years combined that wee have lived there. The streets were packed with ghosts and goblins. You could tell Ali was getting tired and cold..she was slowing down big time and after 90 minutes of fun was asking to go back home...she had enough. She was starting to get a cold and she wanted to get to bed early. We had friends over that evening and she was shouting for us to be quiet...she was tired.
My neighbor and good friend, Jamie, and I went out in Grafton Saturday night to catch up and we hung out with some of my bowling and golf buddies..Plop, Cheez and Hank. Jamie needs a nickname...maybe running man since he loves to run.
Sunday was game day. Ali woke up with a fever and Tina was not feeling the greatest so she decided to stay home. I think she was happy to be not going to the game. As much as she loves tailgating and going to Lambeau, she does not enjoy the Viking game for all the obnoxious fans...green and purple. This game brings out the worst in the fans..and it was turned up a few notches yesterday...ok a lot of notches. It was ugly at times in the parking lot and very ugly in the stadium. I left by 9:15am..later than initially planned because of the sick girls and was tailgating by 11:20 with Mark and Nancy and friends. I brought the TV this week to watch the early games as we ate my world famous taco dip, huge chicken fingers, other snacks and Nancy's delicious chili. The hot stuff is fantastic. We were so full after 3 plus hours of tailgating and watching football. Then it was game time.
I rushed home after the game to give Ali a kiss good night and to see how Tina was...usually we stay a few hours after the game to let traffic thin out, but I wanted to get home. Ali called me while I was driving and asked if I was upset that the Vikings won. Not really, the Pack did not deserve to win. I know dad, I watched with mommy.
Despite sick girls and a Packer loss, the weekend was great. BTW, Ali's fever is gone. Now just a runny nose and cough.
