Welcome Back, GotterBig Football WeekendBy Brian Gotter (WTMJ)Saturday is homecoming in Madison and the Badgers are taking on 12th ranked Iowa. Madtown will be rockin! The Badgers are actually favored and I believe they will win by 3. The Big Game of the Week and of the season is #20 Oklahoma vs #3 Texas. This is the game of all games in college football and my alma mater Oklahoma will hopefully destroy the hated Longhorns. It is a game like no other. The game is in Dallas, a neutral site, with half of the Cotton Bowl wearing Burnt Orange for Texas and the other half Crimson for OU...and it is the middle of the biggest state fair in the country...The Texas State Fair. It gets a little rowdy. OU has 2 losses in a season where they were predicted to make a run for the National Championship again..unfortunately the injuries have killed them, including Heisman QB Sam Bradford. He was hurt in the first half of the first game, but returned last week. The two losses were only by 1 point each. I am hoping for a great game and Texas is favored by only 2. I think Texas wins by 7..no blow out by Texas. I am just not feeling a win this year for Oklahoma with all that has gone on this season, but if the Sooners do pull it out it will be their Championship Game. This is a huge game for bragging rights as the two schools and states hate each other. I am so pumped. The final game is Packers - Lions at Lambeau. The Packers return to the tundra for the first time in a month. They are 12 point favorites. The last time they were favored like this was a few weeks ago when they choked against the Bengals at home, but the Bengals have proven to be a quality team like I thought they were...they are 4-1. Many are predicting the Packers to blow away the Lions..a team that looks improved and is playing well. The Packers win, but only by 7...31-24. I hope the Packers come out hungry and ready to prove that they are a better team than what they have showed us the first 4 games. |
