No Doubt!

By Brian Gotter (WTMJ)

There is No Doubt about it..No Doubt puts on one heck of a show..one of the best I have ever seen.  What a night at Summerfest with a packed amphitheater.  Our friends Erin and PJ from the Twin Cities were in town for the Mets Brewers Series...PJ is from Long Island and a huge Mets fan..and they had never been to Summerfest..so we got tickets for No Doubt together back in February.

We got into the Marcus at 7pm for the opening acts..a local band that was very good, they had a reggae flare to them, and then after them it was Paramore...also very good.  No Doubt took the stage at 9pm and electrified the place for more than 2 hours.  From the moment they started it was like the start of the 4th Quarter at a Badger football game...the band and the crowd were just jumping around and pumping fists...they were awesome.  It was a workout.  The energy was off the charts.  Bon Jovi last week was good, but No Doubt made them look old and lame.  Bon Jovi had no special stage, just them and their instruments.  When the curtain dropped for No Doubt you were in awe of the huge video screen as a backdrop and their stage was all white with ramps all over the place..it was very futuristic and looked like something out of the Jetsons.

The band sounded great and Gwen...she was brilliant (and Hot!)...she sounded great and her personality made the show.  She kept bringing people up on stage and took pictures with them and went into the crowd numerous times.  They were having fun and it made for a great concert.  I would put this up with last years Alicia Keys concert at Summerfest.  Alicia is low energy, but man can that lady sing and perform.  I did not want the No Doubt concert to end it was that good.

That will be my memory of Summerfest 2009..No Doubt about it!
