Welcome Back, GotterBusy WeekendBy Brian GotterFinally! A weekend with nice weather for a change, but Saturday started off rainy and cool..as expected. I said on the news Friday night; "When you wake up it will be ugly, but be patient and the afternoon will be great"..and was it ever! Since it was ugly out and I was up early, I started to clean the windows that we have been putting off. That job sucks, but the windows look great. We did not get to all of them, but there are only a few remaining. When the sun came out, I went outside and cleaned the screens..that really sucks. However, Ali was in charge of hosing then down after I washed them..she had more fun spraying me. That made us laugh and the job more fun. The rest of the day was relaxing on the deck and backyard. What a beautiful day. About 5pm I headed to my buddies place to help him grill for the big party they were having. Paul's daughter Mary, who babysits for Ali, graduated last weekend and the party was Sunday and we would do anything for them. Paul asked if Craig and I would like to help...ummm, grilling, drinking and hanging with the guys..sure! Tina and Ali stopped by and brought pizza..we could not eat all the food we were grilling, but we tried. It took us 7 hours to grill more than 400 pieces..brats, burgers and chicken. It was a great night..I love to grill, have drinks and laugh with the boys. Sunday morning a group of us met at the park to put up the big circus tent for the party. Paul surprisingly disappeared when the tent started to go up..he was in the pavilion kitchen....weak, very weak. I guess he was the boss and did not want to get sweaty. However, he did spout off funny comments to us as we struggled..nice guy. Like I said earlier...we would do anything for them, but I am not sure about Paul anymore...only kidding Paul, don't get all upset. After the tent, we set up the tables and chairs and then I headed home. Ali was already taking a nap so Tina and I cleaned out the garage...oh how the Gotter's live the exciting life...windows on Saturday, garage on Sunday. Tina sprayed the floor as I scrubbed it clean..boy does she sparkle..the floor, not Tina...she glistens. When Ali woke up and saw everything outside, including her toys, she was very confused and concerned...don't get rid of my toys daddy. I asked her to be careful while walking on the wet floor so she would not slip. After a few steps she says..."Look daddy, I am not slipping. Last year I was a little girl and would slip..now I am 3 and a big girl and not slipping." She was so proud. After we got everything back in the garage, we cleaned up and headed to the party for about 4 hours. Ali was so excited to see Mary. What a great afternoon to be outside and what a party....that was a big party. By 6pm we hit the wall and headed home..we were all very tired and just relaxed the rest of the night. Congratulations Mary and thanks for wanting to watch Ali for awhile, even at your own party. She let Ali play kick ball with her and Ali loved it. |
