Ali Meets Bernie!

By Brian Gotter

All  of you know about Ali's love for the Brewers and especially the Racing Sausages and of course...BERNIE.  If you don't know this, Ali loves Bernie and she calls Miller Park "Bernie's House."

Two weeks ago Ali's dream came true.  She finally met Bernie.  She sees the Sausages at almost every festival, but Bernie is never seen out...he is shy according to Ali.  Well, she saw him twice in a week.  The first was at Red Arrow Park in downtown..it was the opening of the ice skating rink.  Tina and Ali joined me during my live shots so Ali could skate for the first time...now that was funny.  You should have seen us scooting along the ice.  But the bigger story was seeing her Bernie.  As she and Tina parked the car she saw Bernie and started shouting...she ran to me at the ice.  She was actually very quiet at first and I had told Bernie she was his biggest fan before she arrived.  He gave her a hug and held her hand. She was smiling from ear to ear.   As we were trying to skate on the ice Bernie watched us from the side and gave Ali high-five every time she went by...Ali was all smiles and kept her eyes on him at all times.  Maybe that was why we had difficulty skating.

Bernie would not come on the ice...Ali said he was scared .  He only likes to slide down his slide.  When we were leaving she ran to Bernie and gave him a big hug.

If that was not enough, 3 days later at the Grafton parade Ali saw her man again.  She saw the sausages get out of the van and she shouted..hey Chorizo (her other favorite), where is Bernie.  I told her Bernie does not come to all the events...I was wrong.  A minute later Bernie jumped out of the van and Ali ran to him for a hug.  They are best friends now.

How do I top her seeing Bernie twice in a week.
