Lambeau Still #1

By Brian Gotter

While the Packers are slumping, their home remains the best stadium experience in the NFL according to Sports Illustrated 2nd annual NFL stadium rankings.  Lambeau won last year as well and will win every year...there is nothing like going to Lambeau.  I still get chills every time I walk into the shrine and sit in my seat.  I am sad that I only have one more game this season in my old friend.  I would be buried there if I could.

The ranking is based on 5 categories:  Affordability and Food (both great at Lambeau), Tailgating (Simply the Best), Team Quality (OK, this may suffer after this season), Atmosphere (AWESOME), and Accessibility (great after the renovation).

Here is top 5:  Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Denver, Baltimore, Jacksonville.

Chicago was 17th, Minnesota 30th, and Detroit 31st.

Green Bay finished 2nd in tailgating..only behind Buffalo.  I was shocked..I thought Kansas City was the best tailgating.  Minnesota finished last and Detroit 30th.

Another survey puts Green Bay #2 for strength in marketing and fan loyalty outside of its market.  Green Bay ranked #1 within its state, but they have the second most loyal fans in all of sports across the country.  New York Yankees are #1,   Boston Red Sox #3, Dallas Cowboys #4, and LA Laker's #5.

Finally, Lambeau was ranked in the top 5 for food for vegetarians.  Are you kidding me?  Have you been to Lambeau with the burgers, brats, chili, pizza, Chicago hot dogs...I can go on and on.  Not many salads sold at Lambeau from what I can see.
