Welcome Back, GotterGreat WeekendBy Brian GotterIt was busy, productive and so much fun. It started the minute I walked out the door from work on Friday. Tina, Ali and I went to Fox Bay movie theater in Whitefish Bay to see Madagascar2. It was a fun evening. Fox Bay is a great place to take kids since you sit at a table, order food from a waitress and watch a movie. We all shared a pizza and popcorn and we adults had a cold beer. The movie was entertaining, but not as good as the original...Ali loved it. After the movie we drove through Bayshore to see the Christmas tree that was lit a few hours earlier. Ali was very excited to see the tree and the horse and carriage rides. By now it was 8pm and we were all exhausted..it felt like midnight. I woke up before 6am on Saturday and was wide awake...so I got up and went out to the garage to pack the truck for Sunday's Packer game and then I detailed the cars in the garage after I took them to get washed. By now it was starting to get light out so I went outside in the wind and cold to cut down all the dead plants that froze this week. Now the house looks bare without landscaping. I was done by 8:30 and the girls were now awake so I fired up the lawn mower for the last time this season and mowed the grass and mulched the leaves. It was cold but I actually broke a sweat while listening to my Ipod and pushing the mower. I finished with edging, trimming and blowing the grass off the sidewalks and was done before 10. The rest of the day was inside playing with Ali and setting up the Christmas tree. We decided to set it up early since we have a few busy weekends and we had the time on Saturday. Ali was so excited to help...tonight we put on all the ornaments..that is all she has been talking about. We had to stop with the tree Saturday afternoon because Tina and I had our bowling league Saturday night with my aunt and uncle. We had a blast..great bowling and lots of laughs. Tina is getting the hang of this fun game and bowled her best games ever. My uncle was wearing his 300 jacket from bowling a 300 last year and since Tina bowled a 330 for 3 games she wanted to wear it. I just missed a 600...203, 204 and 185...my average should remain close to 195. I missed my spares on the first frame of all 3 games (that darn 10 pin), but came back strong. The last game I had a few splits, but I blame all the beer. We had so much fun. We were in bed by midnight and the alarm went off before 6am Sunday morning so we could head up to Green Bay for the big Packer Bear game. We dropped Ali off at my aunt and uncles and we were tailgating before 9am. It was brisk outside, but the tailgate party is always a blast. We had the heater out for Tina...have to keep my Florida girl comfortable, but the beer, burgers and chili helped out as well. Oh the chili was so delicious. What an afternoon in Lambeau..it was a party and the weather was perfect for jumping around and cheering. Also perfect to keep that beer cold. What a game. The Packers dominated. We usually go to Curley's Pub after the game to hang out with the AM 620 crew for the postgame show, and since this was a Milwaukee season ticket holder game, we stayed longer to let the traffic clear out. We then had dinner at my aunt and uncles and pulled into our driveway by 8pm last night. It was a long day but AWESOME. We unpacked, washed up and we were all in bed very early. What a weekend. |
