Impressive Packers

By Brian Gotter

What a game yesterday!  I am not even upset they lost...they looked very good against a very talented Titan's team.

Rodgers had 314 yards...the first quarterback in 2 years to throw for more than 300 yards against the Titans.  I also liked how we did not fold after throwing a terrible interception and then fumbled on the next drive.  He kept it together and moved the ball down the field.

Our running game looked great against a dominate Titan's defense.  The Packers offensive line showed up to play yesterday...that was very nice to see.  The defensive  line still can't put consistent pressure on a quarterback, but they looked much better against the best o-line in football.

We moved the ball very well, but stalled in the red zone.  Field goals are good, but you need touchdowns against great teams.

I loved the game, and it was so great they decided to play a little longer.  The defense shut the Tintans down in the second half allowing only 56 yards in 6 drives...there were a lot of 3 and outs...I love watching a good defense.  But it is the law of averages and I knew it would happen.  After stopping them the entire half, you knew the Titans would march down the field and win the game.  They marched down the field, but missed the game winning field goal.  They got the ball first in OT and marched down again and won..I guess the defense got tired.

It was just a great game to watch and showed a lot of positive things about our Packers.  However, there were two concerns:

First, the defense dropped 3 easy interceptions...twice players collided.  I guess they don't call for it like they do in baseball.  One of those would have been run back for  a touchdown.

The second, Brady Poppinga lost the game.  His penalty in the first quarter was stupid.  He was away from the play, he pushed a guy in the face and it kept the Titans on the field after the Pack had stoppe dthem on 3rd down...Titans kept the ball and kicked a field goal...that was the diferrence in the game.  That was a bonehead play...you just can't do that and expect to win.

Oh well, next up is the big border battle against the Vikings in Minneapolis....hopefully the Packers can make it 6 in a row against the purple.
