Welcome Back, GotterPhinallyBy Brian GotterCongratulations to the Philadelphia Phillies and more importantly to Geoff Jenkins in finally winning the World Series. It was the first championship for the Phillies since 1980 and it is Jenkins first after a long 10 years in Milwaukee. Jenkins was a fan favorite in Milwaukee for years when wins were hard to come by and after the 2007 season we knew he was leaving the team and he received a standing ovation from the Milwaukee fans on the last game of the season.
I am very excited for Geoff...he always gave everything he had..and that is why he was so loved....he could also be Favre's brother. How exciting for the city of Philadelphia..one of the best sports towns in the country. They have waited a long time to celebrate. The Eagles have not won a championship since 1960, the Flyers since the 70s, and the 76ers were the last to win a championship in 1983. Not anymore..the Phillies are Champs! I am not a fan, but I enjoy watching teams win that have not won in years...and when they win at home. I love watching the crowd celebrate and cheer. |

The Phillies came to Milwaukee twice this season. Jenkins received a standing ovation early in the season but not so much during the playoff series a month ago when the Phillies won the NLDS three games to one.
